The next evolution is to get rid of onerous, abusive programs like California’s NEM 3.0 and actually find the “real value” of residential grid tied solar PV, now with an adder of residential energy storage as part of the system from now on. At the residential, small business, commercial and even light industrial arena, adding resiliency and usable arbitrage for every captured kWh each day makes a difference in the way the adopters generate, use and even sell energy during the day. For instance someone with a 60kWh home battery pack could use 80% of that pack each day allowing 6kWh to 9.6kWh for a few hours each day during a TOU rate spiking period and actually cut their energy bill by up around 50% during TOU rate periods. The next test will be in August of this year when the ‘new’ Biden tariffs are raised on many goods being fed to the supply chain or coming from China as finished goods.

Comment on ADT Solar to close 22 of 38 branches by TG https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2023/11/adt-solar-to-close-22-of-38-branches/#comment-146248 Thu, 27 Jun 2024 18:33:30 +0000 https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/?p=103981#comment-146248 Poor lead ship led to this happening. They paid $898 million for the business in 2021, grossly overpaying.
The ADT leadership team has failed at everything they have touched since the integration with Protection One, including the failed integration with Brinks Home Security, a diamond in the alarm business.
Same old leaders keep failing forward.

Our Governor is extreme right wing but lost Tulsa and Okla City in the election and still thinks he has a mandate. Tulsa and OKC are becoming purple so employees from both sides of the political spectrum will be represented. Moderates. Looking forward to the move here.

Nothing . We pay our bill until their business caves , then we’re responsible for getting the panels – batteries down and disposed of . Find a lawyer now would be my best guess .

Well, I wish Michael Lecesse would give me a call back. My husband and I left 3/4 messages with him and still as of today, we still have NOT heard back from him. Honestly, if he can’t do the job, he could at least give me back a courtesy call. Bad customer service. Very disappointed with Michael Lecesse. I wouldn’t recommend him at all!! Now, I have to go looking for someone else to help us since he has not attempted to give me or my husband a courtesy call back.

I called the number that I have and and only get a voice message saying as as of June 17,24 there will no longer be accepting new customers and existing customers can go to their website I.ADT.com/Solar. I didn’t get a connection to that email but this website popped up as I started reading your complaints I think we’re all in the same boat, now we got to pay for solar panels that we won’t be able to get serviced any type of help that we may need. Has anybody started a lawsuit we might have to file for a class action lawsuit because they got us all good we still have to pay. Question? Did did anybody get any kind of notification that they were closing down or downsizing you know like a letter letter or email ? I know in my contract it says that we won’t use attorneys but we’ll use a litigation aren’t we passed that ? So if there’s you have any insight because it’s all new to me could you please let me but I think I’m going to look into an attorney. Thank you and have a good day I’m going to try to find this website

Comment on Amazon will turn Maryland coal mine into state’s largest solar project by William Neil https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2023/11/amazon-will-turn-maryland-coal-mine-into-solar-project/#comment-146156 Sat, 22 Jun 2024 18:02:18 +0000 https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/?p=104064#comment-146156 Could you explain the role of the state of Maryland and if relevant, the federal government in helping this project along. For example, the issue of 425,000 cubic yards of coal “refuse” – what does that mean exactly, who cleaned it up and who paid for it? The Arch Coal Company, the new solar one, or Amazon, or the Federal Gov’t or the State of Maryland? And although the Kent County project’s acreage is mentioned, 400, there is no physical extent given for the project near Backbone Mountain in Garrettl County. Oh yes, mentioning Garrettt reminds me there is a multi-partner public agency, Western Counties in MD, which might have played a role? Funding, cleanup…
And tax breaks? Any, how long, how much?

Comment on Bidirectional EV chargers to finally materialize in 2024 2024 Trends in Solar by Connor Nakao https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2024/01/bidirectional-ev-chargers-to-finally-materialize-in-2024/#comment-146151 Sat, 22 Jun 2024 14:33:02 +0000 https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/?p=104716#comment-146151 I know this is not what this topics about fully, but the bidirectional charging is the tip of the iceberg. I I just transitioned out of 15 years of being a solar installer because in California it’s very turbulent times (NEM 3.0), we were installing a lot of batteries for the past 5 years when working in the trade. When talking to the customers asking why they chose batteries, it was to supply their house with back up power during the outages. Once I took bidirectional charging into consideration I decided that’s the nail in the coffin because once this technology gets distributed, It’s really hard to see a future in residential solar. They’ll just choose that over a home battery because most of the customers just wanted battery back up for outages and that could be now done with energy from your car my question is my assumption true?
And the utility rates for battery back up in California is concerning, because Will the utility companies make the fixed charges high, so there’s not a ROI?

I wish solar power world would discuss these issues because theres not any real information being talked about anywhere to help support and give hope to the solar installer trade industry, the only news easy to read is the utilities propaganda. Saying that California has too much solar energy and now they’re having to shunt it off to ground or pay other states to take it. Where’s the solar industry point of view? Will there be government funded utility gravity fed batteries to help aid this issue?
Another one is that solar is not sustainable with net metering 1 for 1 kWh rate and solar customers are free loading by not paying their fare share to keep the utility infrastructure running? Is that true?

There seems a lot of concerns that aren’t being addressed, and that’s why I left solar because all my assumptions are leading to residential solar slowly weaned out for utility scale solar, so the utility’s can just buy energy from them so residential customers aren’t digging into there profit margins, is this true?
I keep looking every week to see if there’s any information to give me hope and hasn’t been any. Except the NEM 3.0 repeal, with the California Supreme Court. And there’s no information on that really, when is the date their going to have the repeal be processed? What would be the options in the repeal? Thank you I know this is a lot of unsolicited questions, I’m just looking for people that might have answers. Thank you again if you read this far I appreciate it.

Comment on Saft to increase density of lithium ESS to 5 MWh by 2026 by Solarman2 https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2024/06/saft-to-increase-density-of-lithium-ess-to-5-mwh-by-2026/#comment-146138 Fri, 21 Jun 2024 19:15:05 +0000 https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/?p=106296#comment-146138 This 20 foot storage container ESS with 5MWh capacity should be a boon to businesses, commercial and light industrial entities as a hedge against energy costs or could completely take the building off grid or grid agnostic for years of BESS use. The long term consideration is when one gets rid of the middleman in daily energy use, one will save money to use somewhere else in their budget.

In places like California where there is an appetite for SGIP and VPP aggregation, one could use such a system as grid services with a PPA with the local utility that could actually pay for the asset sooner than later. Just sayin’, the futures so bright, I got to wear shades.

Comment on Silfab’s South Carolina manufacturing plans may be in jeopardy by Moe Rothstein https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/2024/05/silfabs-south-carolina-manufacturing-plans-may-be-in-jeopardy/#comment-146134 Fri, 21 Jun 2024 16:09:49 +0000 https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com/?p=105872#comment-146134 Yes..there is major outcry by residents teachers, and children regarding Silfab And each day the outrage contnues to grow. We will not go away. In your article you stated about $17 million to York City schools via property taxes
First. Silfab in their information kit said in fine print at the bottom of the page They will pay $17 million over 30 years.
Will Silfab be here in 30 years?
And Silfab will not pay property taxes.
The York Council voted in August 2023,Silfab will received a 4% Filot
Fee instead of property tax.
And Silfab was negotiating with York Council this incentive for a long period of time.

In terms of 800 jobs , as I understand only 128 jobs wil be created in the first year.

And salaries will be minimum wage or less
You cannot rent or buy a house in Fort Mill on minimum wages. Fort.Mill is an urban area that continues to grow as noted in national magazines.

And read the Light Industrai code of ordinance of SC that will clearly explain
why the ZBA voted 5 – 0 against Silfab Solar manufacturing.
Please check my facts vs those of the your article..thank you.
